So I haven't written in a while

Words form slowly, then whisper away.

The summer heat bears down on me

And my words melt away into the cracks

Of the broken, bent sidewalks

Leading away from my life.

Instead of such self-imposed lamentations

I move on, writing on scraps of paper napkins

Knowing all of the time why

I haven't written in awhile.
