Mourning Coo Too

by Tony Whitaker

This coo that rings us
from our dreams
a far away distant song
no alarm clock’s noise
deep sleep destroyed
with it’s plastic
man-made tones

Let dawn belong
to the mourning dove
to call us to our feet
and the world will seem
a better place
by nature’s morning greet

Author's Note: A little Coo off with my poet friend Alison McKenzie. This was fun...

This is quite sweet, and I like the idea that the dove (peace) will awaken rather than the blaring of the alarm clock. Niiiiiice. :-)
