Truckee Meadows

by Leonard M Hawkes

Well above the salt land,
And far, east beyond
The hedged up levies and
The clutter of commerce;
To the South, I knew you:

Hay land and sprinklers,
A willowy southern bank,
White clay (your own):
The last green Fragment
And Symbol of Home.
