can’t say whether
it was a lack
of brain cells or
no reminder of who
you were to me;
but I’m glad that
I was recognized
as someone
but I’m sorry that
I forgot your name
that was once so
familiar and your face
I must have known it
somewhere – sometime
I’m sure it will
come to me again
eventually…

Yes, the memory of YOU being only relevant as long as the memory is held by another.
