It Was As If

by Jeffrey Parren

waves crash onto beach
sand fine as hourglass moments
two people are sitting
at a table that shouldn't be there

conversing like time vanished
or better yet reversed
discussing the aspirations
one had for his life

while the other listened
like she always did for her son
wanting to know all about him
and who he was becoming

she still lived
still there for the conversations
guidance without command
living vicariously as parents do

but the reality lingers
the scene is in my mind
dreams conjure niceties
until waking nightmares return

Beautiful...

I'm sorry for your loss. If we could but pierce the veil between the realms of flesh and spirit. I'll bet she hears you. Blessings.
