Why Sleeping Is Sometimes The Smarter Choice

by Jeffrey Parren

I wonder if a strategically used
dramatic pause
puts focus on the former
or the later?

I tell myself daily
the rhyme and reason
to all that happens is one:
I allow it...

two:
I want it...

Assuming the focus is on me
selfishly of course,
and philosophy grants me this
when Descartes did all those meditations,
or did I?

A past life and a passing life
do battle to fight forefront,
to be the receiver
because after all,
who wants to always give?

Author's Note: Complete nonsense. I hate it. The title refers to me writing instead of sleeping.

Ah! a camraderie of our compulsion to write even though we deeply feel it's just rot. Your note is completely endearing.
