Yellow Morning

by Jeffrey Parren

I rose to a yellow morning
everything blurred iris
with humming television
and crooked neck.

I could hear the start
the birds chirping away
nature's intentions
negated by man's neglecting.

Premature of the alarm
my body and mind
secretly wanted sleep
but the will fought.

As I sauntered up
I leaned over a mirror
saw glowing profile
a man unlike myself.

A new day found me
becoming a new man
when I realized golden rays
enlightened day.
