Your Lies

by Richard Trotter

You planned your words like war,
schemed to make me smaller
in your derelict embrace.
Your disguise was so warm
it hid the laughing chess board
that fed on my disgrace.
Your lies were so lovely'
towering dreams erected
then kicked in my face.

You made me feel human
next to sniggering skin,
then suddenly you flew.
Your words were as thin as paper,
coward queen of nowhere,
all that matters you.
Your toy lies abandoned
sick from radiation,
but feeling something new.
