A Knuckle's Worth

by Jeffrey Parren

the knuckle's worth
never completely understood
until the hand curled up
forming mountain peaks
spanning across the back
little fingered rivers
leading to apex
one after another
and exerted force
sport
life
pride
the knuckle's worth
never completely ackowledged
until a ring met the index finger
a stopping point
because love didn't
the knuckle's worth
is existence breathing.

I've not heard that expression before... ok... lemme guess. Popping your knuckles? I'm more than a little dense tonight... aw heck... who am I fooling. Most nights. Please expound if I am incorrect. It is a most inspiring title, I must say. Worthy of a satire in your honor perhaps? Get your writer's juices flowing for our collab?
