Sweet Nothings

by Alison McKenzie

Cotton candy comment
So sweet going in
But swiftly dissolves
In the mist of mouth’s mystery
Sugar rush of
No substance and
I’m still hungry.

Yes, comments of such sweetness from someone that leave you wanting more, as this poem does for me. Excellent!

Excellent analogy. Brief but potent!

I agree with Quentin. Doesn't waste words drawing out the metaphor...short sweet (pun intended) and to the point.

...mmm, ca. 1950: now that is good writing!, i mean in its simplicity of a real to life [gushy] moment, one so ephereal, 'tis nearly mist. so, the 50s comment is genuinely meant, it is so prescriptive of a [deliciously selfish] moment...i say touche!
