June Night

by Lisa Marie Brodsky

If you think I have stopped grieving
Ask the oceans I have created.
Ask the two women in the rowboat
Just grateful to be alive
After the tsunami.

I bear no scares from my years of self-injury
Such an exterior pain
But from her passing, I climb inside
My cave-wound and hibernate
With a corpse.
