Looking

by Alisa Js

I look outside through these twin portals
Is what you see the same as who I am
Are you sure?

I am spirit, residing
For an indeterminate time inside this body of flesh
and yet these limbs respond to the essence of your thought
How can that be?

Fragmented self I've come to know
Certainty slipped aside
Tainted abandonment follows me now
Yet, I want to know
What I dare not utter
With this mouth that sometimes makes sense
or not...

Oh, tell me again
and let me hear with these ears while there's still time
Maybe we can rumble under the sunshine
Before we vacate to places unknown ...

"Maybe we can rumble"... sounds like a time for some down in the dirt dirty deeds! But the yearning for the past comes through strong on this one, along with a sense of time slipping by..
