Footsteps

by A. Paige White

Startled upright
from prone to sitting
Suddenly, standing on the ground
I'm looking up
but seeing down
taken up
still on the ground

His footsteps hold thunder
boldly he goes
gentle thunder
with every step
a glance piercing down through clouds;
a lightening strike
hurrying scurries
in his rolling gait

Author's Note: In response to my spiritual advisor's gentle admonition to light a candle rather than curse the darkness...

Hmmmm this poem can be seen on at least a couple of levels. You could be describing your spiritual mentor, a bit sarcastic perhaps? Or you could be describing God in the symbolic way of the Old Testament.
