Twilight

by Matthew Taylor

It is the autumn of my life,
spring and summer have passed me by
like a gentle warm rain, slowly covering the years
Winter off in the shadows, ever lingering.
Few regrets, much to be thankful for, but please
dear Lord just a little bit more.
I look ahead and wonder, look back and smile
I can't see past my wonder years, I can't speak
sometimes, through the tears.
I can't quite relax, still things to do and see,
blessed by a family, I am free, to be
and I see hope amidst the twilight.
