Fathers

by A. Paige White

A young man works from my house
Headed in the right direction of life
He's an exterminator
Striving with all his might.

Dependable
Loving a little boy not his own
Loving him as his own son
Here because
He loves
blessed now with a daughter
soon delivered

Here because
He loves

---------------

A dad sits outside my house
laptop in his lap, heart in his hands
writing out his heart to those he loves
watching a little boy play
a little boy not his own grandson
yet of his blood with every heartbeat pumping
an emotion, a matter of the will, through valves
uncluttered by genealogies, his own mother
an orphan adopted by the wanting

---------------

One boy, one young man, neither wanted by their bio-fathers
have a father in heaven
who wants to share every care
every where their paths will wind in life
wants fiercely their whispers of love
of guidance asked and assuredly granted
by his omnipotent, omniscient hand
sometimes expressed in angelic helps
in seeming coincidences
in the random stranger sent
stranger yet that a design is seen
by the eyes of the heart powered by faith, living in love
in the lives He gave and loves with a love beyond compare

Poignant, tender, thoughtprovoking tribute to fathers; of course, to particular ones. Very much like the reference to our Father in Heaven.
