we are everything in the sense

that we are nothing at all



we measure the time it takes

to solve the troubles of

everyone but ourselves

in shots of jack daniels

and games of pool.

maybe not heroes, but

for brief flashes we

shatter the world

with our liquid genius

and our bar room philosophy.

we drown all the world's problems

in the booze tsunami

before we pass out,

but wake to find

that we changed nothing at all.



and you ask why i drink every night.
