In The Matter Of The Marriage Of...

by Dan Kasten

This freshly inked piece of paper
satisfies my contribution to the law of averages

there has been a lot of moisture these days
a constant convection drawing closer to evaporation

this freshly inked piece of paper
eloquently relegates the most beautiful

experience I have ever had into a business
transaction worthy of praise in any trade journal

this freshly inked piece of paper
lies in state for the parade of those astonished

and those who expected nothing else for a couple
who spent their time looking in two different mirrors.

Hi Dan. Oh, too true. It's said, a successful marriage is an edifice that must be rebuilt every day, unfortunately, many take edifice to mean walls. Was happy to see you in the apps today. Thanks.

"...business transaction..." —with tears capable of smearing all that fresh ink...

Dan, I'm overjoyed to find you here! —and look forward to your fine art!

Also — way cool authors note.

Welcome back Dan. Having been on the opposite side of a divorce (parents splitting up), your words help with the understanding of an act between two people that I, as a kid, really didn't understand.

Nice to see you back, mate. A cathartic experience, this writing business, huh? you wear your heart on your sleeve with the images your well derived piece exposes. Suggest you lost "to" 2S L2, then go with a ";" this "tightens" it IMO. Cheers G

I had a professor of poetic studies in my college days who offered a line that has followed me all these years, she said, 'You will work your way through the emotive 'self' until at last the world will appear in truth upon your page.' May the muse speed your pen - RCat
