The Astor Court Garden by Julie AdamsI listen,
subtle waters trickle
between rockery crevices
the Koi pond ripples with energy, flickers
of gold, orange, and white
weaving beneath
movement massages their fine scales
as a mild breeze does our skin
in May
~
where steps form, moss hangs on
and shrubbery offer their version of spring green,
a shrine rises from jagged boulders
cherry wood intricasies dangle like lace runners
along the sloping peaks of the Pagoda,
its pillars envelope the temple
subdued, yellow lanterns
blink like watchful eyes of ancestors
in the temple shadows
~
the garden is quiet, still
thoughts move like spring butterflies
spring air stirs between
the bounty of earth and awe
glimmer on the water,
like a distant sunset shedding its colors

Posted by Charles M Harrison on 06/13/07 at 09:16 AM I like it the way it is. Paints a very good picture. I just close my eyes and I can see it in my mind. |

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/05/07 at 04:23 PM I love the intricacy of your vision, the elements set forth as if painted, and the language "ripples with energy"! |
