The Sun's Spirit

by Jeffrey Parren

This morning
the sun rose
from a horizon's womb
restoring weary eyes
opened by previous rain
now squinting aglow.

I gathered.
The sun caused eruptions;
neurons firing mentalities
as I awoke.  Sun-
kissed skin tightens
anxious for the day.

Nature's seemingly flawless
transitions from storm to sun
gives hope to weary souls
in the way smiling faces
and helping hands awaken
the human spirit.

Beautiful sentiment, with wonderful language to express it. Great stuff.
