Gray

by A. Paige White

Thunder thickened air
feel the weight on my skin
and the frizzy of my hair
shorted bursts of speed
and shorter stops

Three startling white
feather sets
circling twice
and disappear
really
just disappear

Step three steps left
six steps right
the building electric orchestra
have swallowed them
-vanished into thick air-
tumbling into an esophagus
by forked tongues licking
like lightening

I'm swallowed too.

I love that last line. Some of the most compelling and interesting imagery I've seen out of you.

I love "vanished into thick air" and I LOVE the summer storms of thunder and lightening, though I doubt oregon is as dramatic as the south. Love this Paige....write more about summer storms, more!!!!

Electric imagery. Wish we'd get more t'storms or even rain here... When I was a kid, I remember how, just before a thunderstorm, the sky would turn this yellowish-gray. Excellent description, Paige.
