Recognition

by Alisa Js

the words sliced through in a flash
of stinging recognition,
to what was actually being said
I could have laid down right there and died ...

and I knew for the last time
a billion times over
it meant nothing,
all my years of sacrifice
I fooled myself, believing ...

I can't change the way you choose to think of me
regardless
sealed and delivered,
it's done
why bother trying to push water up a hill?

I have my own life to live
I deserve happiness and love
with those sincere hearts out there,
waiting
anticipating
contemplating
and so very ready ...

Author's Note: sometimes the words family members say....hurts worse than a punch in the stomach...OUCH!!!!

Indeed. As always, you say it brilliantly.
