when i ask for grace
it's not for forgiveness
or understanding
but for the ability
to go through life
without injury

grace may not seem
like much to
those of you
who can walk
across a room
without breaking
a toe
or move around
a garage without
sustaining
a concussion

but for me
who has seen
the doctor
often enough
to know i
funded the new
car he drives
the lack of grace
is calamitous

so give me grace
i beg and plead
that i might
go through
a week
without
injury
