"You're Lucky I Can't Hold a Grudge"

by Max Phineas

Forever friendship
is no excuse to
avoid my calls,
avert my gaze...

Eyes ablaze
Fire of words
Tongue pierces my cheek;
anger's blood drips from my chin.

And still you grin;
Cast-iron chest
Soul of Lead;
Act as though
it's in my head.

While you persist,
insist to live
I am scathed.

but still I forgive.

Cole, your words tell me that here you've learned early another one of life's lessons. Forgiveness isn't for the forgiven, but for the person forgiving. It took me so long to learn that, but when I did, the knowledge set me free. Yes, you have anger here, but you gentle it down with the freedom you give yourself in forgiving the other person.
