eight haiku

by Jim Benz

honey bee
through the open window
a scent of lilacs

***

somewhere
in the trees at dusk
a pair of doves

***

strutting pigeon –
looks like he owns
this sidewalk!

***

brass bells –
every sound
means something else

***

absorbed in a book –
broom and dustpan
leaning on the wall

***

may rain –
closing windows
as the wind rises

***

climbing rocks
at Gooseberry Falls
a sound of laughter

***

brown lilac
drying on the branch
where is your fragrance?
