My Sweet Momma by Joe CramerThe cell-phone-faced woman weeps
The goosebumps on the girl that sleeps
The perverted camel creeps up behind her
He says, "Yes, I'll care for you."
"Yes, I'll be there for you.
But no, I won't cut my hair for you."
The Jesus freak with the ace of spades
Sits next to the Tommy girl, her hair in braids.
(I think that they were playing charades.)
My son is so afraid that someone will notice
As the girl from the mountain rock grows,
She has diamonds on her face, and nose.
The hermit hobbles on his toes,
His shell crumbling.
He screams, "Yes, I'll lie with you!"
"Yes! I'll cry with you."
"But no, I won't close my eyes for you."
The teacher quietly wipes the white board
As I scream out, "what are we fighting for?"
Then, he ate my intelligentsia and spat it on the floor,
Perfect sensibilities for a child, gone wild.
I told him that I was just afraid
He said that's cuz he don't get paid.
I asked him if he were late
Would there be compensation?
He cried, "yes, I'll kill for you!"
"Yes, I'll be killed for you!"
"But no, I won't pay the bill for you."
Go fight your own damn war.
Isn't that what it's for?
The world's so full of emptiness,
I learned this when I held your first kiss.
Wondering if I will ever be remiss,
Or will even miss your mistakes.
They walked into the sunset singing
Ballads of old, stupidly careening
Far from what they actually wanted to say.
Women don't like me, as you can plainly see why,
It doesn't bother me too much, you won't see me cry.
But when they free me from the tears that bind me,
From all of my fears that are behind me.
In the middle of the hanging someone smiled,
His poor battered wife left him after awhile.
Their only son drinks from a vial
That was left for me.
"Apothecary, thy drugs are quick."
He sighs, "Yes, I'll die for you."
"Yes, I'll even cry for you."
"But no, no way would I ever try with you."
Juicy details on the television with tripe
That give you daily updates on the Stars and Stripes.
When I hear that defecation I want to scream.
Isn't that the way?
"Everybody has dues in life to pay."
I want to forget it all now,
You, them, us, but don't know how.
Besides, the cops don't allow stupid questions,
Just pleasing answers that appease their sensibilities.
I once got arrested by my favorite group
For acting badly, being uncouth.
I got out of jail before I could recoup
The words from your mouth.
You said, "I know that's not who you are,
To drive so very fast in that little car."
But at that time I just didn't know
Always afraid of letting my feelings show.
As if it would ever snow
On my birthday, in mid-August.
Isn't that just they way
"Hey, nonny-neigh, hey nonny no!"
"Where oh where, did my sweet momma go?" 05/24/2007 Author's Note: To a miss-spent youth.....
