Still Raining by Joe CramerIs it still raining?
Maybe this morning we can call it our own
Maybe we can crack the last of the snappy, pop, bing-bang.
The thunder claps and makes you think that you should never get outta bed.
Makes you wish you had never been born today.
Just make up your own theme song
And wax patriotic while saluting the flag.
How many died today
Somewhere else, for something that they
Never really believed in, like a "war on terror."
What about the terror they felt as dying?
My war was in Southeast Asia,
So many long years ago,
That I hide all of those memories in a closet
Up on a shelf, when the average age was 19.
And I missed it.
So now the rants, the raves all seem the same
And your temper-tantrums seem so unimportant
Or perhaps self-important.
Rain, rain, go away. Come back again another day,
Before my self-imposed exile and lackluster
Patriotism wears away. 05/24/2007 Author's Note: I rant, I rave.... think of the time I save.
