Life's Too Short

by Tony Whitaker

There’s a fire
softly burning
away the tears

that fill your mind

This remembering
rebounds
then strips you bare

and makes you colder

And you sit
and you wait
and wonder
then ask why
is life
so hard

as we get older

But life’s
too short
to die for...
as you waste
the hours you cry

So get up
or life
will slip
away forever

through her fingers

Author's Note: Another tune written last night and finished in my morning run in my head. To the melody of Back Home Again by John Denver. A little different phrasing, but the 2/4 beat is the same. That rocking horse beat we call it. Key of E.

I completely agree 1000%... life is really made of moments created. When we share them, fabulous memories result that add another fascinating perspective and on and on .... aloha
