Who is Watching Us?

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

collective chatter of sensory overload
stops
me
I shift into neutral
listen to the hum
hundreds it seems
moving
me
to stop
dead still
reminded briefly of an inch
of ground in my backyard
ants, bees, spiders I see
moving and humming along
and I wonder
who is watching us?

Author's Note: I wonder if when they do watch us they get creeped out thinking we might crawl on them in the middle of the night.....he he he

"collective chatter of sensory overload stops me I shift into nuetral" That targets my bullseye exactly. I'm loving coasting into this little quiet moment of observation followed by your hilarious supposition... reminded me at once of a Gary Larson cartoon of two monsters laying under a bed wide eyed, hair standing on end, whispering to each other..."Got the feeling somebody's on top of our bed!" Thanks for sharing your neutral adventure.

That has always interested me as well. Or even if we are the existence of the dust caught in the fingernail of some larger being. Who is watching? Why do we think we are the biggest thing out there? So many great questions and great writings such as this... ~JPP
