Screaming Blues

by Joe Cramer

I still look like a fool, when I peer out of the corner of my eye

This love indeed has gone, escaped into blue sky.

My doe-eyed woman left, forever did she lie

And my weary soul cries out, screaming blues.

It was at the break of dawn that I was in,

As the worst day of my life did begin.

I should have stayed in bed, closed my eyes

But instead, I went to the beach for a swim.

Now I'm treading over my head

If I stop now, I'll be dead.

Instead I ramble, should have stayed in bed

But I can't help wanting to fly.

The waves crash, before my eyes

And my wanton love is gone, died.

I still wonder why, now I must fly

Screaming the blues.
