To Turn It On

by Jeffrey Parren

I reached across you
but it was not necessary
as I was sitting in the driver's seat
and you my passenger for life,
to turn on the radio, but in need
of contact with your skin
I grazed you with a careful nudge
of my sunburned elbow
to turn on the music we love,
to complete our day of happiness,
together.
