Tongue-Tied by Jeffrey ParrenIt appeared all-to-clear
when she approached me.
The frenum I currently employed
was to do this woman no justice.
A bookworm she was not,
though she peered through thin-rimmed
glasses with such ferocity,
I found myself tongue-tied
in excitement of possibilities unrealized.
She sat, legs crossing heavenly pathways.
Sharing selfish glances, I fumble
to articulate myself with ease
only Richard Gere could deliver.
I shuddered as I began to so-to-speak
myself through clumsy whimsicalities
trying my hardest to sound witty.
Without dictionary.com to big-word myself
through the conversation I gathered
simplistic weaponry to win her over.
She then stole my thunder by speaking:
"'Hi' is a good start, Rico." 07/27/2006 Author's Note: *Archive
