This Setting Sun by Jeffrey Parreni walked the beach
remarked on the sun going down
what a brilliant shade of yellowish red you are today
it almost seemed so fast
how quickly it set
one moment it was high in the sky
the next it is kissing the horizon
eventually becoming one with it
half horizon, half sun
and suddenly i realized the sun was gone
i became so entranced in the moment
the sun has disappeared
very much the ways of life
stopping to smell the roses is nice
needed even
but get caught up in it, and you miss out
grasp the good, forget the bad
memories are what i live for now
since the sun did set too quickly 03/31/2006 Author's Note: *Archive

| Posted by Nancy Ames on 07/31/08 at 01:37 PM This is very good poetry indeed. Nature teaches us about life and makes an excellent metaphor. That fleeting moment of transition between day and night says so much and this poem expresses it very well. |
