Mother's Day: Take Two

by Jeffrey Parren

On this, Mother's Day take two, without you:

my world spirals more than ever before
trying to find a place in a place
where you don't feel you belong
where being nice is tragic, weak.

the truth of the matter is,
since you passed on
a large part of my hopes and dreams vanished.
you represented that which fought so hard.

and for you to die prematurely
a simple couple weeks before transplant
I gather that not only is life not fair
it really doesn't care, if you are a good person.

Hi Jeffrey, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I had read it in another poem about her. I see you don't look forward to Mother's day either. It's not the same for us either. Lots of hugs. Your in my prayers.
