Two Out of Three Is Not Enough, This Time

by Jeffrey Parren

I found the factors trivial
based on the blame solely
lying on my shoulders,
though I thought I sent
for one I could trust
and it may be the one I did
is the one that threw me
to the wolves of the moment.

Now we all know
two out of three ain't bad
but in this case, the third
is the one that is lying
and I need to figure out
who is the gamer
and who is there for me,
tis the game of life you see.

Those that resemble trust,
the ones that make a difference,
shine through in difficult times
and in this instance
a detective is made of me
for I will find he, or she,
that was not by my side
in my time of need.

Author's Note: My previous author's note turned into stanza three...it can be omitted, let me know.
