Cascading Existence by Jeffrey Parrenas the water trickled down the side of the car
an odd path had begun to cascade around cracks
the water was changing, evolving to a new being
developing inside was a story, an evolution.
i came to. i woke up. drip, drip, drip.
my eyes creep open. my window wasn't open?
my car...is open. a sardine can. what?
don't move kid. why not? what happened?
as the rain came down onto commuting vehicles
a collection of raindrops also formed puddles
the ground where frustration, confusion began
a car spins out and is collided with another.
i am on the ground. a hand holding my head.
a hand appears; blood cascades down the digits.
i cannot move. i cannot breathe. i am in pain!
the rest is survival. i did. i am here now.
as the elements rain down on my life, my vision blurs
one tragedy after another. aging and losing
go hand in hand, into the sunset i gaze selfishly
trying to find reason for a difficult existence. 01/16/2006 Author's Note: *Archive
