Lilacs

by Alisa Js

There was a time and place, vaguely now as I recall
Smatterings of visions, haunting
Fragments of something I remember as love,
It was such a long time ago, lifetimes even
When the lilacs bloomed
Around my smile,
And for a brief moment
A blink,
We could almost reach and taste the impossible …

He was a puppy back then
The most beautiful and regal,
He stood out and called our names
Hers and mine,
That was eons ago …

How could we have known?
It never crossed our minds
To ever imagine
This!
This living hell I find myself in,
This madness that threatens ..

I have written of love
Great flowing pages,
Oohs! And awes! From all who read,
But my heart is so damned empty
My soul derelict,
No one understands this pain,
My pain, my rage …

I find myself completely alone
Darkness is my only friend,
And I absolutely hate what I’ve now become
This miserable wreck,
This shell of a man
I once knew …

Hi Alisa, Good one. Yes, I love Lilacs. They smell so good. To lose a love sure isn't easy. This is so emotional.
