Accidentally Cool by Tony Whitaker
As a young man
of the world I found,
wrestling for wise words
with the popular girls
never knowing who you are
head forever in a whorl
fearing denial
always on trial
no treasure
all those oysters,
no pearl
Much older I grew
first marriage
was through
testing waters
once again in my
singles domain
Then one day I remember,
sounds trite but,
a cool day in September,
what one gal did tender
with an amused cooing sigh
and her spurious eye
spearing the truth
about this fool
I write to you,
"Tony,
you just happen
to be
acci-
dentally
cool"

But the truth is, I am a slight introvert (three times tested on Myers-Briggs) but could turn it on when I find something interesting. With people I love to hear "their story" or " the what" which makes them who they are.

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 05/14/07 at 07:48 AM You are very funny, and more than "accidentally cool" because you can say it like this...the poem really leads up to that very "cool" ending"... as it goes along...I wondered how it would get there, but it certainly did. Makes me smile. |
Posted by Alisa Js on 05/15/07 at 08:20 PM Thanks for sharing, my poet friend.. although I would beg to differ. I think you have grown from 'accidentally cool' to a really, incredible cool guy with an equally incredible talented and sweet soul.. aloha |
