My Gift To You

by Charles M Harrison

I do not give you flowers
you’re just not that type.
To you it’s wasted money
that buys into the hype.
Candy just will not do
you don’t need it to eat.
Outside you’re rough and ready
but your heart is already sweet.
Forget about diamonds, gold,
and all the fancy frills.
Watching your dragons eat
is what gives you thrills.
So what is left for me to find
to give as a gift to you.
For nothing that I could buy
would prove my love is true.
I know it not more stuff and things
that will show love from my heart.
It’s all that I say and do
as I try best to do my part.
The words I speak, and my actions
will tell you my love is true.
This is my gift I try to give
to show my love for you.
I work to show the same love
that was there on that first day.
When my eyes looked into yours
and they stole my heart away.
My gift to you is a love
that will endure until the end.
Because each day your eyes
steal my heart away again.

This is very sweet, Charles. Better than anything you could have bought at a store. I love the ending. :)
