Love is Like Math by Delilah CoyneLove is like math,
so simple,
1+1=2
you know it without thinking.
It all adds up
and it is perfect.
Love is like math,
so complicated,
2(-5x+y/4)(2x)+17=12/5(3x+4)
maddening and impossible.
Solutions are difficult to figure out
and negatives make the work harder.
Love is like math.
Some struggle with it.
It never clicks for them.
Some find it effortless.
It just makes sense.

Posted by Jeffrey Parren on 05/09/07 at 02:49 AM What about doing "1+1=1"?? It turns simple into complicated right there, especially if you are trying to say that love is complicated with this piece. Otherwise I think keep working on maybe the syllables or words and keep it mathematically structured to give it some more form? ~JPP |
Posted by Angela Nuzzo on 05/09/07 at 07:59 PM I like this a lot, Delilah. The only thing that I think needs work is the math equation in stanza 2. Keep it confusing, but shorten it a little. For some reason, it doesn't look like it can actually be solved. It should be solvable, just not easily. Like love. :) |
