let me be heartless by Maria FrancescaI want to be Iago
I want to be Aaron
I want to be Richard the Third
I want to be Fortune's cruellest deed
the bravest hero's dying word
I want to be horror's architect
the bringer of despair
the outcast's final loving touch
the balding man's last hair
to hell with care and sacrifice
with sweetness and with piety
to hell again with being nice
and further with propriety
and if I ever made you glad
I beg of you -
forget it
and if I brought you happiness
I heartily regret it
I here renounce my wretched heart -
replace it with a stone
let me be miserable but safe
and empty
and alone 01/25/2006 Posted on 05/08/2007 Copyright © 2025 Maria Francesca

Posted by A. Paige White on 05/08/07 at 02:57 AM I love the tempo in this satire. Gave me the giggles in fits and starts and snorts. In S5 maybe replace heartily with heartlessly? Just a suggestion, it's great as is. I love it. Still chuckling. |
