Realization

by Jeffrey Parren

I can't help but miss
what we could have been
though I understand
we will never be.

The timing of it all
ill at best, quite
the norm for me
years ongoing.

Born an only child
I continue to roam
landscape of existence
much the same.

You with family
siblings to enjoy
find new loneliness
troublesome result.

You aren't ready for me
maybe never will anyway
so it is best
for me to move on.

Sad, but lovely. I like your lack of anger and admire your resignation to a situation that "could've been and perhaps, would've been" but will never be. Excellent and heartfelt.

There is definitely a sad acceptance here. But, there will be fire again one day. I very nearly promise it. No. I DO promise it :-) Eh. Well. Not that my promises mean anything at all.
