it all happened under the guise of, 'let's stop pretending'
sounded good for the moment, I'm sure anyone would agree,
but there's something strangely undeniable here
deep within the subtext,
grappling below the surface
struggling still to break free ...

the truth is the truth and that's all that really matters
wrapped inside some silly nonsense
of whatever it takes
you think it takes to make you feel superior or even stronger
why bother?

you can't win against the power of love
steady and unrelenting
in the face of adversity
standing tall,
within the cloak of humility
love will prevail,
it always does ...

fear wraps itself in loud words and stinging accusations
designed to cut beneath the heart
straight to the core, blistering
hoping against hope
yet, love doesn't deny
the scarred, tiny warrior
left without guns and impotent pellets
love sees and forgives
rising above the chaos
far beyond the clutter of those angry and scattered remains,
laying in the sun
praying for eastern wind ...
