A Perspective on Writing

by Tony Whitaker

Drifting on a sea of calm
pen silent upon the palm

Or fingers exploding across the page
like gale force winds wrapped in rage

Sail boats of wind-swept notions
sweep across cerebral oceans

White-tipped waves of hidden verse
our goal the reader to immerse

Surfing peaks of inspiration
or diving through depths of desperation

Determined not to drown in thought
allowing whatever the will has wrought

That third stanza is just magic. I love it! The imagery is really good. Well done and thank you for sharing this piece. -Kat :)

Beautifully written observation. A truer perspective I've never seen. Great job! My POTD

Nice meta-poetics, Tony. I like "cerebral oceans".....

Oh yes, don't all who write have these highs and lows? At least you express it well. Nice job.
