I miss the concept of you by Rebecca LinI don't understand
I don't understand
why we can't keep
holding hands
until we feel like
one person.
Left your pearls in the sea,
that's where you left me.
Now I'm drifting with the waves and weeds,
wanting something everyone needs.
Hold it tight,
so that it shatters
and pick up each part,
it won't matter.
When you have it,
don't desert it;
golden emotion,
I deserve it.
I deserve it.
And he did not,
at least from me.
That's why I was left
in the sea.
Perhaps I want him
to come back,
but rather I want
the love he lacked.
Maybe one day
he'll return
but I won't be here
he will learn. 04/29/2007 Author's Note: Dennis

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 04/29/07 at 11:44 PM I like all of this, and I understand its song-like simplicty. But I must say I love the title and the first stanza...which are very strong, original idea, and have a depth that I find exciting. The "concept of you" is startling and true... as the actual is not always the "concept" that excites and enliven us... and yet it is the necessary ingredient to our lives. Also the impossible yet creative idea of the first stanza is my kind of solution! Yes. Let;s revise the world. Exceptional. |
Posted by Genevieve Sturrock on 04/30/07 at 05:11 AM as i read this, i commented to my hubby that it had to be a song...perhaps you don't have music to it, but it definitely reads as lyrics. nicely written. |
