RE:action

by Jersey D Gibson

Pathetically I deserve all this
held together all the gernades with gum and glue.
Forgotten memories that drift and fade
rinse, recycle, doomed to repeat.

Hope is gone but can be found
the roadmap takes us, though north is wrong.
Satan says hi, so my answering machine tells me
but without lines, we're making it as we go along.

We've freaked and we've tweaked all the LED's
symbols clash at the end of the line.
Taking deep breaths of carbon monoxide
soothing us to slumber.

Grown together like two weeds,
we're peas in a pod, waiting to explode.
Jumble the scanners and x-ray our thoughts
and tell the captain we've obtained light speed.

Like tuesday's child, I've come with bells
whistles, kazoos, and a banjo, too.
Play until your hearts content, alright
but when the music stops, the lights go out.

We've stopped and we've hopped all the Starbuck's
filled the coffee grinds with baking soda.
Corruption is just an "inside" joke
that none of us are laughing at.

Gone long enough and mold will replace
it's ok, we can make penecillian.
Dietry suppliments that feasts our souls
while the rest just withers away.

Gone again, wrong again, maybe I'll be 'saved' again
but lord knows we can never go 'back' again.
Mistakes pile up like a ton of leaves
so much harder for them to blow away.

We've choked and we've smoked all the crack pipes
ten minutes before they legalize the whole damn thing.
A barcode on your forehead will announce your credit report
and let us know your expected life productivity.

Whistle while you work, sing while you shower
what will you do when you are finally dead?
Shampoo advertizements are such subtle things
sublimental messages go tell us to kill.

Got the 'God' code on but not the infinite ammo
gotta make do with my wit and harsh language.
Make worth of my life a la Henry Rollins
and see how many people I can piss off.

We've stamped and we've tramped all the broadway hookers,
yet the industry still sells itself short.
When lines are cheap and perscriptions impossible
who is going to be the one to take us home?
