To Be A Lighthouse

by Jeffrey Parren

The lighthouse peeked over the cliff
letting its existence be known to protect
any and all crafts that may approach.

Solitary standing reminders
poised and tall full of strength;
self assured in life's meaning.

If only I could learn from the lighthouse
to be more like it, a sanctuary and safe
place, to protect with lighted majesty.
