She Appeared

by Joe Cramer

She appeared to be

Homeless to me,

Wandering around the Bookstore

In search of forgotten lore.

I embraced the moment

Of a life in love's torment.

Bidding a curt "bonjour."

Glancing my way, then to be sure.

I resumed my labors

Despite any favors

Of incredulity.

What pray tell,

Is in store for me?

Author's Note: A decidedly homeless woman inhabits my favorite bookstore.
