In My Soul

by Joe Cramer

You set my soul on fire

When you speak to me.

Then you smile,

My heart climbs higher

And I am set free.

We play a silly game

Missing, in some semblance of jest

No one's really to blame

For our facetiousness.

I memorize every detail

Of your face when I see you.

Sometimes to no avail

As my thoughts scatter and are few.

How I long to hold

You, hotly in my arms, my love

If I may be so brash, so bold.

It is you who has sent me above

To the place where I have longed to go.

Who knew how this could be?

I long to be with you, be with you so,

You have set me on fire, free.

Is this meant to be a song? Because it sure feels like one. A good song, too.
