My Inside Self and My Outside Self

by Meagan Green

My inside self and my outside self
Are as different as can be

My outside self is kind of chubby,
My feet smell like old salami,
Ugly freckles lay upon me.

My inside self is different as you can see

A lovely artist
Painting pictures in my mind
While others are gazing wistfully
At my beautiful art so fine.

When I was in the third grade, the best thing I could do was a sequel to Super Mario World. So, I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is good stuff.

um, third grade...sorry, i didn't do anything significant in third grade. my parent's got divorced that year. i wrote my first piece of prose in high school. so you are way ahead of the game, my dear.

I'm not sure what age-range third grade implies, but for a first write it has its moments - like the contrast in styles in presenting inside and outside, as we can see :)

hi 3rd grade meagan. how cute for a 3rd grader to write such graphic detail. and to do this without being traumatized first is amazing:)

lovely, though i have to take issue with part of it as i love freckles. i'm not sure how to word it, but there's something about this that i really like. something to do with the mixture of reality and dreams and acceptance of their coexistence. i started writing proper poetry in mid 1996 - if only it had been as good as this.
