I'll Move Along

Reflecting on a life
Which cost me a wife
Gave me two grown kids
Who sometimes come by
To be nice,

I think I'll move along
Find another home
Lived in El Paso
once
A long time gone
So I feel I will
Leave her today
Had some great times
Easy to read in the lines
Of my face
The one that misses you so
But I gotta go

For I know there's no turning back
Like the love we now lack
So we cry
As we think of where we were
But no more,

I think I'll move along
Find another home
Used this one all up

Pick up and leave her today
04/05/2007 Author's Note: You nailed it well Michelle! So many of us are in relationships where the love is still there, but the work to keep it alive is sometime too tough for some. I tell everyone, as my wife and I do, e very five years go to marriage counseling, whether or not you THINK you need it. I ahve been married 14 years and it DOES help!

It's tough being alone a lot of the time, but to have loved someone and have that love die is probably even tougher. In these lines, I sense hesitation, like I'm going but I really don't want to be. It's almost as if the narrator is trying to convince himself he doesn't have to leave, that there's a choice to stay, despite the circumstances. Yes, an emotional conflict.

LOL.. thanks for sharing and having the courage to say what so many live yet don't have the balls or backbone to do anything about it.. but rather whine with the boys over beer! aloha |
